Milk Bar is the bakery-inspired dessert branch of the Momofuku restaurant group, headed by the 2012 James Beard Rising Star Chef of the Year and finalist for the 2014 James Beard Outstanding Pastry Chef award, chef/owner and founder Christina Tosi. Since its opening in November of 2008, Milk Bar has focused on putting a playfully American, approachable spin on familiar home-style desserts and savory snacks using quality ingredients and locally-sourced dairy. Popular items include cereal milkTM ice cream, compost cookies®, and crack pie®. Milk Bar has a total of six locations, including an international location in Toronto, Canada, which opened in July 2013. Christina Tosi and Milk Bar have been featured in television programs and publications world-wide such as The Today Show, Good Morning America, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Conan, The New York Times, The Guardian, Vogue, Vogue Australia and InStyle Magazine. The bakery’s first cookbook, Momofuku Milk Bar, includes all the cult favorites from their kitchen. A second cookbook, Milk Bar Life, is due out in spring 2015 with Clarkson Potter.
